Smart money is on enough compliance for dozens of people to be killed.

Anecdotally, my uncle was working in Detroit as a junior exec at GM in July 1967. One day on his drive home from work he saw a National Guard tank roll right over a civilian car with three Black guys in it. Blood and viscera everywhere. All told, there were 43 killed, 1000 injured, at least $100 mil in property damage in today's money.

Multiple versions of that would not surprise me.

@bojacobs Depends on what their opposition is doing. Rn their opposition is, to a significant extent, lawless, violent rioters. As long as that's their opposition, they're not gonna switch sides.
