I posted an #introduction when I first got here. With all the new mastodon users, it's a good time to re-introduce myself!
Hello!
I am a PhD candidate at Indiana University's Media School working on a dissertation on the mediation of human bodies as part of research into tuberculosis at the turn of the twentieth century. Research interests: Media Studies, Science and Technology Studies (#STS), Digital Humanities (#DH), History of Medicine (#HistMed), Cultural Studies, Post-Colonial Theory, Scientific Racism, Arts-Based Research, Museum Studies.
I post sporadically, sometimes about my own life, sometimes about my research. I'm working on doing data entry on a big corpus of text and image material from 1882-1926, so I'll share the strange (and sometimes disturbing) images I come across.
If you want to see some of my research, check out a photo essay I worked on for the DH journal Epoiesen. In it, I apply some arts-based methods to consider how we should reproduce primary evidence in the history of medicine. #HistMed https://epoiesen.carleton.ca/2022/01/10/dermographic-opacities/
