"Today the Australian Catholic University announced a plan to disestablish the Medieval and Early Modern Studies research program. A myopic decision needing international condemnation.

"As director of that program, I will be strongly objecting to this decision.

"Medieval and early modern studies lies at the heart of university history, theology, philosophy, literary studies, and so much more. Especially in a Catholic University.

"Medievalists and early modernists worldwide - please support our defence of Australasia’s largest dedicated research program in this area."
